The idea for BackUpGuy.Com was born in 2007 over John Webster’s  lunch of YC’s stir-fry.  During his more than 30 years of IT experience, John noticed that although computer technology was rapidly evolving, the methods of backing up data had begun to lag behind.  Although of the first things new homeowners did upon purchasing their first home was to buy insurance, computer owners rarely took the same care with their data.

After helping clients recover their lost data time and time again, it was clear that a new way of protecting valuable informtation stored on computers was necessary.  This need spawned the creation of BackUpGuy.Com, a website dedicated to helping you find the best methods to help back up your data.
